How we verify

A human looks at every kitchen. On a video call.

Trust is the whole barrier in home food. Rather than tick a box, we get on a call and confirm with our own eyes that it is a genuine home kitchen — for all 200+ of them, and again every month.

The process

Five stages. Every kitchen, every time.

Nothing here is automated away. A person is involved at the points that matter.

  1. 1

    The cook applies

Through the same app everyone else orders from — there is no separate cook app.

  2. 2

    Aadhaar KYC + FSSAI

Identity verified through Digilocker with OCR-based checks. We assist with FSSAI licensing rather than leaving them to it.

  3. A video call into the actual kitchen

We look with our own eyes. Not a cloud kitchen, not a restaurant set up in a rented room — a real home kitchen, or it does not get in.

  4. 4

Training videos, then an oral exam

Every cook watches the full training set, then answers our questions on a call about serving customers and running their kitchen. Not everyone passes.

  5. 5

    Manual admin approval

A person signs off before the kitchen becomes visible to anyone. The verified badge gates visibility everywhere in the app.

And then we do it again, monthly.

Verification isn't one-and-done. We re-verify kitchens on a monthly cycle so the promise holds over time, not just on the day someone joined. A kitchen that stops meeting the bar loses its badge — and the badge is what makes it visible in the app.

Where we say no

What stops a kitchen getting in.

The bar is slow and expensive to clear. That is the point — it is what the badge means.

It is a cloud kitchen or a commercial unit, not a home
A restaurant operating out of a rented room
Identity or licensing documents that do not check out
Failing the oral examination on how to serve and operate
A kitchen that cannot demonstrate basic hygiene on the call

Only kitchens that clear all of this become visible in the app.

Why our cooks actually earn

We turn cooks away. That's how the ones we accept earn.

Most platforms leave sign-up wide open, then let cooks find out the hard way that there's no demand for them. We check the area first.

If a neighbourhood is already well served, we say so honestly instead of onboarding a kitchen that won't get orders.

Frequently asked questions

A member of our team joins a call with the cook and asks to see the kitchen they will actually be cooking in. We are checking one thing above all: that it is a genuine home kitchen and not a commercial or cloud kitchen presented as one. If we cannot confirm that, the application does not proceed.
